In a one hour unloading period, a volume of highly viscous product equivalent to 100 drums can be pumped into a plant as a result of the Piston Trailer's innovative design. By comparison, conventional delivery could have taken four to forty-eight hours with high product retention upon completion of the delivery. Quick delivery of these volumes reduces employee time supervising the unloading operation, freeing them for utilization in other areas.
Compared to drum and tote delivery, with their related problems of inventory control, product handling and drum disposal, the opportunity for product contamination is greatly reduced during transfer into the plant's storage systems.
Virtually, all of the product is discharged for use from a Piston Trailer. Normally, no more than 3 to 5 gallons of product is left as a heel. Comparatively, hopper or pneumatic trailers often leave 500 to 1000 gallons of highly viscous product as a heel. This reduction in shipped waste translates to immediate savings for the user and reduced cleaning costs for the shipper.
Buying in bulk has always permitted industry to benefit from the cost economies realized. Additional savings are accomplished through reduced labor costs of handling and storing drums. Improvements in plant safety, general appearance and environmental impact can also aid in the reduction of costs.
Transporting and handling highly viscous products, particularly petroleum and chemical based products, in bulk form reduces the chances of spillage and nonconforming disposal. Reduced waste disposal, from Piston Trailer delivery, is much more environmentally responsible.
